Aaron Ramsey, Wales captain has no plans to retire from international football despite missing out on Euro 2024. At 33, Ramsey remains determined to play until the 2026 World Cup. He was an unused substitute during Wales’ Euro 2024 play-off final loss to Poland in March, a decision that drew criticism toward then-manager Rob Page. Although that experience was tough for Ramsey, he is now looking forward to the future under new manager Craig Bellamy.

Ramsey expressed his continued excitement about the team’s potential and his desire to help Wales qualify for the next World Cup. “It never entered my mind about stopping,” Ramsey said, highlighting his commitment to the team. He acknowledged the disappointment of not contributing during the play-off but views the team’s current age and talent as promising for future success.

Bellamy, who has taken over from Page will lead Wales in their upcoming Nations League matches against Turkey and Montenegro. He has confirmed that Ramsey will remain as captain. Despite a career marred by injury, Bellamy believes there is still much to come from Ramsey. The squad has started training under Bellamy and there is a positive response to his methods and approach.

“The way he’s handled himself has been impressive,” Ramsey commented, noting the new, high-intensity style Bellamy is introducing. The players are adapting to Bellamy’s tactical shifts and are optimistic about the new direction. Aaron Ramsey and his teammates are eager to implement these changes as they prepare for World Cup qualifiers starting in March.
