Mariona Caldentey made it 3-0 by reacting quickly to a loose ball in the box and Caitlin Foord rounded off the victory by tapping in a cross from Kyra Cooney-Cross.
The result sees Arsenal remain second in Group C, three points ahead of third-placed Juventus and three behind leaders Bayern Munich. Slegers expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance but emphasized that it’s still early in the competition. She credited her side’s intensity and the impact of substitutes for the victory. Juventus initially applied pressure, forcing Arsenal goalkeeper Daphne van Domselaar into a crucial save.
However, Arsenal soon found their rhythm with Emily Fox making notable runs and nearly scoring herself. Juventus had moments of quality but struggled with finishing. As the game wore on, Arsenal capitalized on tired legs, showcasing their ruthlessness. Caldentey reflected on the importance of teamwork, praising the contributions of substitutes.
Arsenal’s consistency under Slegers strengthens her position as the team continues to perform well. While the group stage is halfway through, the Gunners now hold the advantage in the battle for second place and a spot in the knockout stages.
