Bayern Munich extended their lead at the top of the Bundesliga with a 1-0 win at St Pauli, thanks to a stunning long-range goal from Jamal Musiala. The 21-year-old, who netted in Bayern’s midweek win over Benfica received the ball near the sideline, dribbled centrally and fired a shot from nearly 30 meters that crashed off the crossbar and into the net. With five goals in his last four games, Musiala has been in fine form since recovering from a hip injury.

Bayern now sit six points clear at the top of the table on 26 points, though RB Leipzig can cut the gap to three with a win over Borussia Moenchengladbach. Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund’s struggles continued as they suffered a 3-1 defeat at Mainz. Emre Can was sent off for a dangerous tackle in the 27th minute, forcing Dortmund to play with 10 men for most of the match.

After leveling through a Serhou Guirassy penalty, Dortmund fell behind again when Mainz’s Jonathan Burkardt struck before halftime. Mainz sealed the win with a third goal from Paul Nebel early in the second half. Dortmund’s poor away form has seen them lose six consecutive matches in all competitions. Bayer Leverkusen also dropped points in a 1-1 draw at Bochum.

Florian Wirtz assisted Patrik Schick for Leverkusen’s opening goal but Bochum equalized in the dying minutes through Koji Miyoshi after a defensive error. Leverkusen have now dropped 13 points this season, nine behind Bayern Munich. Elsewhere, Werder Bremen edged Holstein Kiel 2-1 at home with Oliver Burke scoring an 89th-minute winner after a second-half equalizer from Kiel’s Phil Harres.
