Harry Kane made history by becoming the fastest player to reach 50 Bundesliga goals, achieving the milestone in just 43 games with a hat-trick in Bayern Munich’s 3-0 victory over Augsburg. Notably, the England captain surpassed Erling Haaland’s record of 50 goals in 50 games for Borussia Dortmund. To begin with, Kane opened the scoring in the 63rd minute with a penalty before netting two more in injury time. His second came from another penalty after being fouled by Keven Schlotterbeck, who was sent off for a second yellow card.
Subsequently, Kane completed his hat-trick with a brilliant header following a sublime first touch. As a result, the win extended Bayern’s lead at the top of the table to eight points and maintained their unbeaten league run with nine wins and two draws in 11 games. Reflecting on the match, Kane highlighted the team’s patience. “At half-time, we said, ‘Keep doing what we’re doing.’ The penalty opened things up and we killed the game off,” he told DAZN.
Furthermore, Kane’s remarkable start at Bayern includes 14 goals in 11 league matches with five coming from penalties. On his penalty success, he remarked, “I work on them a lot. They’re a big part of the game.” In addition, it has been a record-breaking season for the 31-year-old, who now has 20 goals across all competitions.
For instance, in September, he scored four times in Bayern’s 9-2 Champions League win over Dinamo Zagreb becoming the top English scorer in Champions League history with 33 goals, surpassing Wayne Rooney’s record. Moreover, he also became the first English player to score four goals in a Champions League game.
Overall, Harry Kane’s prolific form has cemented his place as one of football’s elite strikers, continuing to break records and lead Bayern’s charge for silverware.
