Burnley secured their 20th clean sheet of the season with a goalless draw against Championship leaders Leeds, extending their unbeaten run to 16 matches. The match, played under challenging weather conditions in East Lancashire was largely uneventful with both teams struggling to create meaningful chances. The first shot on target came in the 89th minute when Burnley’s James Trafford tipped Dan James’ effort over the bar.

Burnley managed by Scott Parker have not conceded a goal in the league since December 21, maintaining a defensive record that stretches over 10 hours. Their defensive solidity is a key factor in their promotion push, having conceded just nine goals in 29 games. With this draw, Burnley now have a chance to break the Championship record for clean sheets in a season, set at 25 by Queens Park Rangers.

However, despite their strong defensive record, Burnley’s attack remains a concern as they have scored just 36 goals this season—equal to 21st-placed Portsmouth. This was Burnley’s ninth 0-0 draw of the campaign, highlighting their struggles in the final third. Leeds, who have a two-point lead over second-placed Sheffield United, dominated possession but failed to break down Burnley’s defense.

Despite being the league’s top scorers with 53 goals, Leeds’ away form remains a worry, with only 18 goals scored on the road. Both teams will look to improve their attacking play in upcoming fixtures—Leeds will host Cardiff while Burnley travels to Portsmouth. Burnley boss Scott Parker praised his team’s defensive record but acknowledged the need for improvement in attack. Leeds’ manager Daniel Farke also expressed satisfaction with the defensive performance but called for more confidence in the attacking third.
