Bayer Leverkusen Defeats AC Milan, Maintains Winning Streak

Bayer Leverkusen maintained their perfect record in this season’s Champions League with a tense home victory against AC Milan. The match at the BayArena saw Victor Boniface score the only goal in the 51st minute, tapping in a rebound after Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan saved a shot from Jeremie Frimpong. Despite Leverkusen’s strong start, Milan gradually found their rhythm and posed a threat late in the game.

With just seven minutes left, Theo Hernandez almost equalized, hitting the crossbar with a deflected long-range shot. Alvaro Morata came close to scoring as well, narrowly missing the target with a header on the follow-up. Boniface had another chance to score in the 21st minute when he connected with a cross from Frimpong.

However, officials ruled out the goal after a VAR review determined that Frimpong had been offside when he made the pass. The victory marked Leverkusen’s second win in the group stage, having previously routed Feyenoord 4-0 in their opening match. In contrast, AC Milan struggled in their Champions League debut, suffering a 3-1 defeat at home to Liverpool.
