Inter Milan secured their fourth consecutive Champions League victory with a hard-fought 1-0 win over RB Leipzig, who are still winless in the competition. The match saw Inter take the lead in the 27th minute when Leipzig defender Castello Lukeba inadvertently turned Federico Dimarco’s free-kick into his own net. Despite several chances, Inter struggled to extend their lead. Lautaro Martinez came close to scoring after a scramble in the box but Leipzig cleared the danger.
Early in the second half, Denzel Dumfries missed a golden opportunity sending his shot over the bar after a powerful run down the right wing. Hakan Calhanoglu making his return to the starting lineup, tested Leipzig goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi with a long-range shot but the keeper was equal to the task. Dimarco then delivered a fine cross into the box but Marcus Thuram’s header went wide despite being in a good position.
Leipzig trailing by a goal, mounted pressure in the final minutes at the San Siro but Inter’s defense held firm ensuring they kept their clean sheet. The German side could not break through, despite their efforts. With the win, Inter Milan moved to the top of Group A with 13 points from 15 possible while Leipzig still without a win, remain at the bottom of the standings in 33rd place. Inter’s defensive resilience and efficient attack were key in securing another crucial three points in their bid for Champions League success.
