Inter Milan Dominates Red Star Belgrade 4-0
Inter Milan secured their first Champions League victory of the season with a commanding 4-0 win against Red Star Belgrade. The match started brightly for Inter with Hakan Calhanoglu opening the scoring in the 11th minute through a beautifully curled free-kick that struck the post before finding the back of the net. In the 59th minute, Marko Arnautovic the former Stoke and West Ham forward doubled the lead.
He capitalized on a high press from Mehdi Taremi to score. Taremi intercepted the ball in the attacking third and set up the 35-year-old for an easy finish extending Inter’s advantage to 2-0. Taremi continued to impress, stealing the ball in a dangerous position again in the 71st minute. This time, he played in substitute Lautaro Martinez, who netted Inter’s third goal of the night further solidifying their dominance.
The final blow for Red Star came late in the match when Taremi earned a penalty after Martinez was fouled in the box. Taremi confidently converted the spot-kick, capping off an outstanding performance with a goal of his own. Inter made a significant number of changes from their previous Serie A match against Udinese where they had emerged victorious.
They had previously opened their Champions League campaign with a 0-0 draw against Manchester City making this win a vital boost to their confidence. In contrast, Red Star Belgrade continued to struggle in the league phase still searching for their first win after falling to Benfica in September. Inter’s emphatic win showcased their potential to contend in this year’s tournament, setting a positive tone for the rest of their Champions League campaign.
