Juventus kicked off their Champions League campaign with a convincing 3-1 victory over PSV Eindhoven at Allianz Stadium. Kenan Yildiz opened the scoring in the 21st minute with a stunning curling shot that hit the post before going in. At 19 years old, Yildiz set a new record as Juventus’ youngest goalscorer in the competition surpassing the legendary Alessandro Del Piero.
Fueled by Yildiz’s goal, Juventus continued to press forward and doubled their lead just six minutes later. Former Leeds midfielder Weston McKennie found the net with a precise first-time finish from seven yards out, beating PSV’s goalkeeper Joel Drommel. In the second half, Juventus extended their lead to 3-0. Dusan Vlahovic made a precise pass across the box to Nicolas Gonzalez.
Gonzalez took a touch and then fired past Drommel to score his first goal for Juventus under manager Thiago Motta. PSV managed a consolation goal in the dying moments of the match. Ismael Saibari scored after receiving a fine pass from Johan Bakayoko, but it was too little too late for the Dutch side. Looking ahead, Juventus will face RB Leipzig in Germany for their next Champions League fixture while PSV will host Sporting Lisbon at Philips Stadion.
