Manchester City Stunned by Feyenoord’s Late Comeback

Manchester City were held to a 3-3 draw by Feyenoord in the Champions League at the Etihad Stadium, throwing away a 3-0 lead and continuing their poor form. Pep Guardiola’s side appeared to be in control after goals from Erling Haaland and Ilkay Gundogan gave them a commanding advantage. Haaland opened the scoring with a penalty, followed by Gundogan’s deflected volley and a second Haaland strike early in the second half.

However, Feyenoord mounted a remarkable comeback starting with a goal from Anis Hadj Moussa after a mistake by Josko Gvardiol. Substitute Santiago Gimenez then pulled one back in the 82nd minute before David Hancko completed the dramatic turnaround in the 89th minute. The result left City manager Guardiola visibly frustrated, as the team failed to secure a win for the sixth consecutive match across all competitions.

Despite ending a five-match losing streak, City’s woes continued, having lost three straight Premier League games and dropped crucial points in the Champions League. This marked their first run of conceding two or more goals in six consecutive matches since May 1963. City’s Champions League hopes are now in jeopardy, as they sit 15th in the table, having dropped seven points from five games.

Unless they improve their form, they could face a two-legged playoff in February. Their remaining group-stage matches include trips to Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain, followed by a home game against Club Brugge. With their confidence shaken, Manchester City now face a tough challenge ahead starting with a Premier League clash against Liverpool on Sunday.
