Tammy Abraham’s Late Goal Seals Milan Win Over Red Star

Tammy Abraham scored a late winner as AC Milan defeated Red Star Belgrade 2-1 at San Siro in a hard-fought Champions League match. Milan took the lead through Rafael Leao, whose sixth goal of the season came after a superb first touch and a clinical finish past Red Star’s goalkeeper Ivan Gutesa. However, Milan’s early advantage was marred by injuries to Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Alvaro Morata, who were both substituted in the first half for Samuel Chukwueze and Abraham.

Leao had an opportunity to double the lead before Abraham’s header narrowly missed the target. Despite Milan’s dominance, Red Star began to pose a threat but lacked the finishing touch. Leao continued to shine, timing a brilliant run to latch onto Youssouf Fofana’s long ball, calmly controlling it before beating Gutesa at his near post. After the break, Abraham looked set to extend Milan’s lead but Nasser Djiga made a crucial block while sitting on the ground to deny the striker’s close-range effort.

Red Star’s persistence paid off when Nemanja Radonjic capitalized on a mistake by Yunus Musah scoring a powerful strike from the edge of the box to level the score. With the match nearing its end, Milan’s frustration seemed to grow but in the 87th minute, Tammy Abraham bundled the ball over the line after Gutesa denied Francesco Camarda’s header keeping Milan’s hopes alive with a dramatic late goal. The win lifts Milan to 12th in the standings with 12 points, virtually securing their spot in the Champions League knockout rounds.

This victory marks Milan’s first four consecutive Champions League wins since the 2004-05 season when they reached the final. Red Star’s hopes of advancing now appear slim.
