Conor Gallagher, Chelsea midfielder has emphasized his focus on England amid speculation about a potential departure from his childhood club this summer. Gallagher, who has been linked with moves to Aston Villa or Tottenham, stressed that his current priority is representing England at Euro 2024. “At the moment, I’m a Chelsea player and my mind is solely on England and this tournament,” Gallagher stated. “Being with the England squad makes me incredibly happy. Right now, my main concentration is on giving my best for England. That’s what matters most to me and to my country.”

Gallagher, 24, assumed the captaincy at Chelsea for much of last season in the absence of Reece James, earning praise for his performances and securing a spot in England’s squad for his second major tournament, following the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. “I had a good season with Chelsea, contributing with goals and assists,” Gallagher reflected. “Although we finished the season strongly under Mauricio Pochettino, it was disappointing to see him leave. However, I’m looking forward to working with Enzo Maresca, who has a strong coaching background, having been an assistant to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.”

Conor Gallagher expressed gratitude towards Pochettino for the opportunities he provided during their time together at Chelsea. “Pochettino trusted me and gave me a lot of responsibility,” Gallagher acknowledged. “I owe him a great deal for helping me progress and become a more integral part of both Chelsea’s squad and now England’s.” Looking ahead, Gallagher is eager to contribute to England’s campaign, which begins against Serbia on Sunday, followed by matches against Denmark and Slovenia in Group C of Euro 2024. Moreover, despite the uncertainties surrounding his club future, Gallagher remains committed to giving his best for both club and country.
