Cristiano Ronaldo Dismisses Retirement Talk

Cristiano Ronaldo, Portugal’s football icon has no immediate plans to retire from international football, though he admits that he will make the decision straightforwardly when the time comes. At 39, Ronaldo holds the record for the most caps and goals in men’s international football, scoring 130 goals in 212 appearances. Despite his impressive career, Ronaldo delivered an underwhelming performance in the recent Euro 2024 campaign.

He failed to score and faced criticism for hindering the team’s progress. Currently playing for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia after notable stints with Manchester United and Real Madrid, Ronaldo remains committed to Portugal’s squad for the upcoming Nations League matches against Croatia and Scotland. Despite criticism after Portugal’s Euro 2024 quarter-final exit to France, Ronaldo says he has never thought about leaving the national team.

He remains dedicated to his international career. While he acknowledges the scrutiny of his performance, he plans to retire only when he feels he’s no longer making a positive impact. Ronaldo’s decision to continue contrasts with his former teammate Pepe, who retired at 41. Jose Fonte, a former Portugal international suggested that Ronaldo might make way for younger talent, given their recent struggles.

However, Cristiano Ronaldo remains determined to contribute as long as he feels valuable. He has mentioned that he will make the decision to retire from international duty spontaneously yet thoughtfully without prior announcement. Ronaldo’s future in international football reflects his commitment and dedication even in the face of adversity.
