Diego Leon is traveling to England for a medical as he looks set to join Manchester United. The 17-year-old from Paraguay, who currently plays for Cerro Porteno, has been seen preparing to depart South America with photos circulating on social media. Sources confirm that Leon is on his way to Manchester to complete the deal. Cerro Porteno and Manchester United have reportedly agreed on a transfer worth around £6m with additional add-ons.

If finalized, Leon will become United’s first signing since Ruben Amorim took over as head coach in October following Erik ten Hag’s departure. Leon a left-sided defender has impressed in Paraguay leading United to move swiftly to secure his signature.  United plans to loan Leon back to Cerro Porteno for the rest of the season before he officially joins them in the summer.

This arrangement will allow the young defender to continue his development in Paraguay while adjusting to life in England gradually. Leon recently earned a spot in Paraguay’s squad for the South American Under-20 Championship, scheduled to take place in Venezuela from January 23 to February 16. His inclusion in the national team further enhances his reputation as he strives to make an impact both at the club and international levels.

This move represents a major step for Manchester United with Diego Leon becoming one of their first significant acquisitions under Amorim’s leadership. It also highlights the club’s commitment to investing in young talent for the future. Fans will be eager to see how Leon adapts to the Premier League once his transfer is complete.
