Diogo Jota Out Until After November Break Due to Injury
Diogo Jota will miss action until after the November international break due to a rib injury, manager Arne Slot confirmed. The 27-year-old Portuguese striker sustained the injury during Liverpool’s 2-1 victory over Chelsea on October 20 when he collided with defender Tosin Adarabioyo. As a result, Jota has missed the last two matches and has not yet returned to training. With the international break scheduled from November 11 to 19, Jota will sit out at least four upcoming fixtures across all competitions.
When Slot addressed Jota’s potential return before the international break, he firmly stated, “No, it will be after that,” while also noting that Harvey Elliott, who has a fractured foot will miss the same duration. Alongside Jota, Liverpool will also lack goalkeeper Alisson, who has missed two weeks due to a hamstring injury and Federico Chiesa, who has played only three times since joining from Juventus this season.
Liverpool’s upcoming schedule features a Carabao Cup match against Brighton away on Wednesday followed by a Premier League clash against Brighton at Anfield on Saturday. The Reds will then host Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League before facing Aston Villa at home, all before the international break. After the break, Liverpool will play an away game against newly promoted Southampton on November 24.
The team aims to navigate these challenges and maintain their competitive form despite the injury setbacks especially with key players like Diogo Jota and Alisson missing from the lineup.
