Alan Shearer: Liverpool Have No Weaknesses in Title Race

Alan Shearer believes Liverpool’s dominance in the Premier League makes them a formidable force with no apparent weaknesses. Following their 2-0 win over Manchester City at Anfield, Shearer feels the defending champions are now 11 points behind, effectively ending their title hopes. Arsenal and Chelsea are potential challengers but Liverpool’s strong squad and consistent performances put them in a commanding position.

Under Arne Slot, Liverpool has impressed with their flawless play in both the Premier League and Champions League. Despite concerns about his ability to replace Jurgen Klopp, Slot has proven his tactical prowess. Shearer notes that Liverpool’s strength in depth especially in midfield has been a key factor. The Reds have successfully rotated players like Curtis Jones, Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister without missing a beat.

Liverpool’s midfield has been a standout with their high-energy approach setting the tone for intense pressing. They remain solid defensively even without key players like Ibrahima Konate and Alisson. Shearer emphasizes that Liverpool’s ability to create chances and score from set-pieces while remaining defensively tight, makes them the complete team. In contrast, City has struggled with their defensive vulnerabilities and lack of attacking rhythm.

Haaland despite being the Premier League’s top scorer has been isolated and frustrated especially in the loss to Liverpool. Alan Shearer suggests that City must find ways to give Haaland better service as his lack of chances highlighted City’s attacking woes. With their defensive issues and unproductive offensive play, City faces a challenging road ahead.
