Alexander Isak Shines as Newcastle Cruise Past Wolves

Alexander Isak starred with two goals and an assist as Newcastle United equaled their club record of nine consecutive wins in all competitions, defeating Wolves 3-0. The Sweden striker opened the scoring with a deflected shot, becoming the first Newcastle player to score in eight consecutive Premier League games. Newcastle dominated the first half, creating multiple chances including Jacob Murphy’s saved attempts and Isak narrowly missing the target before breaking the deadlock.

Wolves came close when Jorgen Strand Larsen hit the post late in the half but Newcastle doubled their lead early in the second half. Bruno Guimaraes set up Isak with a perfectly weighted pass and the striker coolly slotted past Jose Sa. Isak then set up Anthony Gordon for Newcastle’s third goal with a composed assist. Wolves fought back with substitute Matheus Cunha adding energy and Santiago Bueno bundling in what was ruled out for handball.

Strand Larsen was denied by a superb late save from Martin Dubravka, who celebrated his 36th birthday with an excellent performance. Newcastle’s win lifts them into the top four for the first time since September, continuing their remarkable rise under Eddie Howe. Sandro Tonali and Guimaraes controlled the midfield while Alexander Isak’s clinical form remains a key factor in their success.

For Wolves, defensive lapses proved costly despite showing attacking intent. Cunha’s energetic second-half display and Larsen’s near misses highlighted some positives but familiar issues at the back undermined their efforts. Vitor Pereira faces a tough challenge as Wolves drop into the relegation zone on goal difference.

Newcastle’s win also marked their first league double over Wolves in 119 years as the Magpies aim to consolidate their position in the Champions League spots while Wolves grapple with deepening relegation troubles.
