Bournemouth staged an extraordinary late comeback to defeat Everton 3-2 in a Premier League thriller at Goodison Park. Everton seemed poised for their first win of the season leading 2-0 after Michael Keane and Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored in the second half. However, Bournemouth turned the match on its head with three goals in the final minutes leaving Everton stunned and winless in August for the third consecutive year.

The Toffees controlled much of the match, with Keane’s powerful strike and Calvert-Lewin’s composed finish providing them with a seemingly comfortable lead. Everton cruised through the game, and Seamus Coleman even missed a golden chance to extend their advantage. Yet, despite their dominance, Everton began collapsing in the 86th minute.

Antoine Semenyo sparked Bournemouth’s fightback by tapping in a cross from Dango Ouattara to make it 2-1, a goal that initially seemed like a mere consolation. But Everton quickly unraveled when Lewis Cook headed home an equalizer in stoppage time, assisted by Luis Sinisterra. With momentum fully on their side, Bournemouth completed their stunning comeback when Sinisterra nodded in Justin Kluivert’s cross just minutes later, sealing a dramatic victory.

This remarkable turnaround not only handed Everton their third consecutive defeat but also set an unwanted record as the first Premier League team to lose after holding a two-goal advantage in the 87th minute. The Goodison Park crowd responded with boos at the final whistle, reflecting their frustration at Everton’s collapse. Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola initially outplayed saw his attacking substitutions pay off.

Ouattara and Sinisterra played pivotal roles in the turnaround. The win propels Bournemouth to seventh in the table while Everton continues to search for their first victory of the season from the bottom.
