Bruno Fernandes Shines in United’s 3-0 Win Over Leicester

Bruno Fernandes played a key role in Manchester United’s dominant 3-0 victory over Leicester City on Sunday, scoring once and providing two assists in the team’s Premier League match. The win was a fitting send-off for Ruud van Nistelrooy in his final game as interim manager. United have experienced a mixed run of form with three wins and one draw in all competitions since Erik ten Hag’s departure on October 28.

They currently sit 13th in the Premier League, four points behind the top three while Leicester are 15th. Fernandes marked his 250th appearance for United with a goal in the 17th minute. He latched onto a back-heel pass from Amad Diallo and fired a powerful shot into the far corner. This was his fourth goal in four games under Van Nistelrooy.

Reflecting on his recent goal-scoring form, Bruno Fernandes said, “It was a long time that I wasn’t scoring and now goals are coming in the last few games.” In the 38th minute, United doubled their lead with a fortunate own goal off Leicester defender Victor Kristiansen.

Fernandes’s header attempt off a cross from Noussair Mazraoui deflected off Kristiansen’s thigh into the net.  Alejandro Garnacho sealed the win in the 82nd minute, curling a shot into the top corner after Fernandes provided the assist. As the match neared its end, fans at Old Trafford showed their appreciation for Van Nistelrooy, chanting his name.

Ruben Amorim will take over as United’s permanent manager with his first game scheduled for November 24 against Ipswich Town. Van Nistelrooy expressed his support for Amorim, stating his belief in the club’s potential. Despite his departure, he hoped to remain part of the team.
