Chelsea Break Winless Streak with 3-1 Victory Over Wolves

Chelsea ended their five-game Premier League winless streak with a commanding 3-1 victory over Wolves at Stamford Bridge, climbing to fourth in the table. Marc Cucurella and Noni Madueke scored in the second half to secure the win after Tosin Adarabioyo opened the scoring, only for Matt Doherty to equalize before halftime. Tosin scored his first Premier League goal for Chelsea by capitalizing on Reece James’ deflected shot which found him at the back post.

The referee initially flagged him offside but VAR confirmed Matheus Cunha had kept him onside. Wolves responded before the break when Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez mishandled Cunha’s looping cross, allowing Doherty to score. This marked Sanchez’s fourth error leading to a goal this season, prompting questions about his consistency though manager Enzo Maresca defended him.

Chelsea controlled the second half with Cucurella finding the net on his 100th Premier League appearance after Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall flicked on Madueke’s cross. Moments later, Madueke headed in from Trevoh Chalobah’s assist. Although Nicolas Jackson scored a fourth goal that officials ruled offside, Chelsea maintained their dominance. Wolves managed only one second-half shot and continued to struggle with defensive set-pieces, conceding a league-high 19 goals from them this season.

Manager Vitor Pereira criticized his captain Cunha’s negative body language and urged his team to show more tactical maturity and resilience as they prepare for a challenging fixture list against top-eight sides. Chelsea’s win moves them two points clear of Manchester City and Newcastle. Meanwhile, Wolves remain 17th, sitting just outside the relegation zone on goal difference.
