Cole Palmer: Rising Star in Premier League Football

Cole Palmer is one of the most exciting talents in football today, according to pundits, managers and fellow players alike. His Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca called him “the best player in the Premier League,” while teammate Jadon Sancho remarked that “anything is possible” with him on the team. Palmer has already scored six goals in seven league matches this season including four in a stunning first-half performance against Brighton.

He has even earned the title of 2023-24 England men’s player of the year, despite only two of his nine caps being starts. Former England striker Gary Lineker recently praised Palmer, stating, “Every time I see him, he takes my breath away.” As England prepares for Nations League matches against Greece and Finland, Palmer’s recent form makes him a strong contender to start especially after missing previous matches due to injury.

Former Arsenal forward Theo Walcott noted, “You can’t leave him out of any team, including England.” Palmer’s impressive contributions this season follow a strong debut at Chelsea after his transfer from Manchester City. Since the start of the 2023-24 season, he has either scored or assisted on 44 goals, leading all Premier League players. While Manchester City’s Erling Haaland may have scored more goals, Cole Palmer has provided significantly more assists.

Cesc Fabregas suggested that teams could build around exceptional players like Palmer, acknowledging his game-changing ability. Despite the challenges facing interim England manager Lee Carsley, who must find a way to incorporate all his best players, Palmer’s versatility means he could fit into various roles including left-back, although it isn’t his natural position.

With his remarkable performances, Palmer has emerged as one of the best players in the Premier League.
