Jamie Vardy Shines in Leicester's 4-1 Win Over West Ham

Jamie Vardy played a key role in giving Ruud van Nistelrooy a perfect start as Leicester’s new manager, leading them to a 4-1 win over West Ham. Vardy struck early scoring just 98 seconds into the match. Bilal El Khannouss and Patson Daka added goals to secure victory. The Foxes moved up to 15th in the Premier League leaving West Ham two points behind. However, Leicester’s win came with moments of danger.

Goalkeeper Mads Hermansen made crucial saves to keep the Hammers at bay and Niclas Fullkrug scored a late consolation for the visitors.  Julen Lopetegui, West Ham’s manager, faced more scrutiny as his side struggled to capitalize on numerous chances. Despite taking 31 shots with 10 on target, the Hammers couldn’t break down Leicester’s defense. Fans vented their frustration especially after VAR ruled De Cordova-Reid’s goal offside.

Lopetegui admitted his side lacked effectiveness in front of goal. With only three wins in their last 12 league matches, his future remains uncertain. West Ham’s upcoming December fixtures will determine the Spaniard’s tenure. Leicester showed a much-improved performance following their 4-1 loss to Brentford where they faced criticism for lacking fight.

Van Nistelrooy, who had only two days to prepare the team, witnessed a much more determined side on the pitch. Jamie Vardy’s early goal was followed by excellent contributions from El Khannouss and Daka while West Ham’s defensive errors further aided Leicester’s victory. Van Nistelrooy’s immediate impact became clear as he helped turn Leicester’s fortunes around in their battle against relegation.
