Jean-Philippe Mateta’s Brace Powers Palace to 2-0 Win

Jean-Philippe Mateta scored twice to secure Crystal Palace’s 2-0 away win over West Ham in the Premier League. Mateta opened the scoring in the 48th minute, finishing a brilliant through ball from Eberechi Eze past West Ham goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski. In stoppage time, Mateta converted a penalty after Eddie Nketiah drew a foul from Fabianski, sealing the victory for Palace.

West Ham struggled at home once again, failing to register a shot on target throughout the match. Despite holding more possession, they couldn’t break down Palace’s defense. The hosts also had Konstantinos Mavropanos sent off in the 80th minute after he received a second yellow card for fouling Mateta. West Ham have conceded 26 goals at home this season and remain inconsistent, winning only one of their last five league games.

This defeat marked their 10th league loss of the campaign, leaving them 14th in the table just a point behind Palace. Crystal Palace, under manager Oliver Glasner have turned their season around after a slow start. The Eagles now enjoy a five-game unbeaten run and remain unbeaten in their last seven away games with four victories. Jean-Philippe Mateta has been a standout performer, scoring eight goals this season and Eze has assisted eight of those goals.

The team’s defense has also tightened with three consecutive clean sheets away from home. Palace’s newest signing, Romain Esse will add further attacking depth after joining from Millwall. The victory moves Palace up to 12th in the table while West Ham remain stuck in 14th place with both teams continuing to struggle with consistency.
