Liverpool extended their Premier League lead to eight points with a dominant 5-0 victory over a dismal West Ham at the London Stadium. The win, following their 6-3 triumph over Tottenham, showcased Liverpool’s unstoppable form as they dismantled the Hammers in a first-half masterclass. Luis Diaz opened the scoring in the 30th minute with a powerful finish, followed by Cody Gakpo’s goal from Mohamed Salah’s brilliant assist. Salah then made it 3-0 just before halftime, netting his 20th goal of the season.

The second half saw no respite for West Ham as Trent Alexander-Arnold added a deflected long-range strike for Liverpool’s fourth. Mohamed Kudus offered the only glimmer of hope for the hosts, hitting the woodwork twice but the game was already beyond them. The final blow came when Salah made a brilliant run from inside his own half, setting up Diogo Jota for a clinical fifth goal.

Liverpool’s overwhelming superiority was evident with the team controlling the game from the start leaving West Ham with little to offer. The result highlighted the massive gap in quality between the two sides with Liverpool now firmly in control of the title race. Manager Arne Slot’s side exuded confidence and self-belief, making it hard to see how they might falter in their pursuit of a first Premier League title since 2020.

In contrast, West Ham now in 13th place have struggled under Julen Lopetegui despite significant summer investment. The lack of improvement under the new manager was clear as the team showed little resistance and many fans left before the final whistle. Liverpool’s relentless form and West Ham’s passive display make it hard to envision a challenge for the league title from any of their rivals.
