Liverpool Dominates United 3-0 Under Slot

Liverpool continued their flawless run under new manager Arne Slot with a dominant victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford. This comprehensive win puts additional pressure on Erik ten Hag, the Dutchman who survived a summer review after last season’s FA Cup success. Liverpool unbeaten since Slot replaced Jurgen Klopp has now won three consecutive Premier League matches without conceding a goal.

The performance against United was their most impressive yet. Trent Alexander-Arnold had a goal disallowed for offside before Luis Diaz scored twice before halftime. Diaz capitalized on errors from Casemiro, who lost possession leading to both of Diaz’s goals. Mohamed Salah added a third, scoring his 12th goal in 15 appearances against United. Despite some chances for United, mainly from Joshua Zirkzee, Liverpool maintained control and delivered a commanding performance.

Ten Hag, who needed a strong start after retaining his job, faces mounting scrutiny following this defeat. United’s lackluster start to the season including a narrow win against Fulham and a loss to Brighton, compounded the pressure. With key players like Manuel Ugarte, Leny Yoro, Mason Mount, Luke Shaw and Rasmus Hojlund unavailable, Ten Hag’s squad looked depleted.

The poor performance from Casemiro, who was replaced at halftime highlighted the team’s struggles. Slot’s successful start with Liverpool, including previous wins against Ipswich Town and Brentford, faced its toughest test at Old Trafford. Unlike Klopp’s often chaotic style, Slot’s Liverpool showed measured control and resilience. Alisson’s exceptional goalkeeping further secured their dominance.

This victory confirms Slot’s growing influence and popularity among Liverpool fans, who celebrated the win enthusiastically.
