Liverpool fought back to secure a 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest, maintaining their six-point lead at the top of the Premier League. Forest took the lead early when Chris Wood clinically finished a precise pass from Anthony Elanga after just eight minutes. Despite Liverpool dominating possession, Forest’s disciplined defense led by Murillo and goalkeeper Matz Sels, kept the Reds at bay.
Liverpool’s turnaround began after manager Arne Slot made impactful substitutions in the 66th minute. Diogo Jota, who had just entered the game, headed in a corner from Kostas Tsimikas to equalize. Jota nearly swung the game in Liverpool’s favor as he forced Sels to make two excellent saves. Mo Salah also had a chance late on but Forest’s defense blocked his effort off the line.
Forest, aiming for a seventh consecutive league win, earned a well-deserved point in front of a roaring home crowd. They demonstrated why they have been one of the season’s surprise packages with Wood’s early goal highlighting their clinical counter-attacking play. Their defense stood firm, but Jota caught them out at a corner for the equalizer. Liverpool, though dominant in the second half, paid the price for a slow start.
Their first-half display lacked energy, allowing Forest to set up deep, making it difficult for the Reds to break through. After a strong period earlier in the season, Liverpool’s recent form has dipped with draws against Manchester United and Forest, plus a loss to Tottenham in the Carabao Cup. However, Liverpool will feel satisfied with the point as they maintain their lead in the title race.
