Liverpool Thrash Spurs 6-3 to Go Top

Liverpool surged four points clear at the top of the Premier League with a dominant 6-3 victory over Tottenham Hotspur. Arne Slot’s side ruthlessly exploited an injury-hit and weary Spurs showcasing their title credentials with a commanding display. Luis Diaz opened the scoring after 23 minutes with a header from Trent Alexander-Arnold’s pinpoint cross followed by Alexis Mac Allister’s headed goal 13 minutes later.

James Maddison briefly revived Spurs’ hopes with a stunning curling effort, his eighth goal of the season but Dominik Szoboszlai restored Liverpool’s dominance just before halftime with a simple finish from Mohamed Salah’s assist. Salah starred in the second half, scoring twice to surpass Billy Liddell’s 228-goal record and climb to fourth in Liverpool’s all-time scoring charts with 229 goals in 373 games. Szoboszlai, Diaz and Salah led Liverpool’s relentless attack with Diaz adding a late second.

Spurs’ goals from Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke offered scant consolation. Tottenham missing key players and fatigued from a midweek Carabao Cup win over Manchester United, struggled throughout. Ange Postecoglou’s side showed defensive frailties and were overwhelmed by Liverpool’s attacking precision. Despite a flattering scoreline, the match exposed Spurs’ limitations ahead of their EFL Cup semi-final rematch with Liverpool.

Liverpool’s clinical performance ended a two-game winless streak and reignited belief in their title ambitions. Salah’s milestones and Szoboszlai’s dynamic play highlighted the team’s depth and quality. For Spurs, the defeat underscored the challenges Postecoglou faces, despite flashes of entertainment earlier in the week. Anfield now buzzes with optimism while Tottenham’s fans face frustration amid protests against chairman Daniel Levy. A major turnaround will be required for Spurs to challenge Liverpool in their upcoming encounters.
