Manchester City returned to form with a resounding 6-0 victory over struggling Ipswich at Portman Road, moving back into the top four. After a disappointing 2-2 draw with Brentford, Pep Guardiola’s side demonstrated their strength and skill with Phil Foden leading the charge. Foden scored twice and assisted another goal, showing his exceptional form. He scored his first in the 28th minute, controlling Kevin de Bruyne’s cross before finishing smartly.

Just three minutes later, Foden set up Mateo Kovacic for City’s second and two minutes before halftime, Foden completed his brace benefiting from another de Bruyne assist. The second half saw more brilliance from City. Jeremy Doku added a fourth after the break with a deflected low drive and Erling Haaland made it 5-0 by capitalizing on an Ipswich defensive mistake.

James McAtee rounded off the scoring with a lovely header from Kovacic’s cross. This dominant win marked City’s third victory in four games, lifting them to 38 points while Ipswich remained in the relegation zone with only 16 points. Foden’s performance stood out, showcasing the form that made him one of City’s standout players last season. His hunger to get involved in attacks along with his chemistry with de Bruyne, showed promising signs for City’s future.

The victory provided a much-needed boost especially after a difficult period earlier in the season when Manchester City fell 12 points behind leaders Liverpool. Ipswich struggled to make an impact with striker Liam Delap receiving much attention but failing to break through as City’s defense contained him. This defeat leaves Ipswich with a tough challenge ahead including a daunting trip to leaders Liverpool.
