Manchester United Crisis: Amorim Calls Team “Worst Ever”

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has admitted his team could be the worst in the club’s 147-year history after a 3-1 loss to Brighton. This defeat marked their fourth in five home Premier League games, leaving them in 13th place just 10 points clear of relegation. Since replacing Erik ten Hag in November, Amorim’s side has earned only 11 points from 11 games.

The team has been underperforming and Amorim acknowledged the difficult situation, saying, “Everybody here is underperforming and we have to accept that.” Although Amorim’s claim of being “maybe the worst” team in United’s history might be an exaggeration, the stats paint a grim picture. Manchester United have suffered six home defeats in just 12 matches, their worst start since the 1893-94 season.

Additionally, they’ve lost 10 of their 22 league games, their earliest double-digit defeat tally since 1989-90. Amorim, who has stuck with a 3-4-3 formation has faced criticism for the team’s struggles to adapt. He remains determined to see his approach through, despite the mounting pressure. United’s squad may also undergo significant changes with players like Antony, Tyrell Malacia and Christian Eriksen reportedly set to leave.

Amorim has also hinted at possible departures for star forward Marcus Rashford and goalkeeper Andre Onana, who has been inconsistent in recent matches. The club is also looking to bring in fresh talent with the signing of 17-year-old Paraguayan defender Diego Leon being a hopeful sign. However, a major rebuild is needed to restore United’s competitiveness and Amorim’s future hinges on whether he can guide the team through their current crisis.
