Manchester United are standing by Erik ten Hag despite a poor start to the season and a 3-0 loss to Tottenham at Old Trafford. United sit 12th in the Premier League with only seven points from six games, equaling their joint-fewest in a Premier League season. Following the defeat, ten Hag expressed confidence, stating he and the owners are aligned on their vision.

Despite pressure, senior sources at the club suggest it’s “business as usual” ahead of crucial matches against Porto in the Europa League and Aston Villa in the Premier League. United’s struggles are evident not just in results but performances. Their defense has been shaky while scoring just five league goals, leaving them with a -3 goal difference. No player has more than one league goal this season.

Ten Hag faces a pivotal week with these upcoming games before the international break where results could influence his future. Since taking a 27.7% stake in the club, Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos group has aimed to address structural issues that have plagued Manchester United. Despite Ten Hag’s struggles, the club remains cautious about making quick decisions.

New leadership under CEO Omar Berrada and sporting director Dan Ashworth continue to support the Dutch manager. However, the pressure is mounting as the club navigates a challenging phase with their first real test under new leadership.
