Noni Madueke delivered three composed finishes in the second half to secure Chelsea's lead.
Noni Madueke stole the spotlight in Chelsea’s 6-2 victory over Wolves at Molineux, scoring a remarkable 15-minute hat-trick. The match marked Enzo Maresca’s first Premier League win as Chelsea manager with the winger decisively responding to jeers from the home crowd. The fans were angered by an Instagram post Madueke made the previous day mocking Wolverhampton.
Although he quickly deleted the post and apologized in a post-match interview, he still faced boos throughout the game. Madueke, 22, acknowledged his mistake and expressed regret for any offense he caused. “It was a human mistake,” he said, adding that he hoped to learn from the experience. Despite the hostile reception, Madueke thrived under pressure, scoring three second-half goals to secure Chelsea’s win.
The first half saw a tight contest with Nicolas Jackson opening the scoring for Chelsea in the second minute. Matheus Cunha equalized for Wolves but Cole Palmer restored Chelsea’s lead just before halftime. Jorgen Strand Larsen quickly responded, leaving the score at 2-2 at the break. However, Chelsea dominated the second half with Madueke leading the charge.
He scored three goals and Joao Felix, who had recently joined Chelsea from Atletico Madrid added a late strike to seal the emphatic win. Maresca praised Madueke’s performance, emphasizing his maturity and resilience. “I trust people to know what is correct. Noni is mature enough to understand his mistake,” Maresca said.
The Chelsea manager particularly admired Madueke’s defensive effort. He noted it reflected the mentality he expects from his players.
