Nottingham Forest captain Morgan Gibbs-White along with manager Nuno Espírito Santo and Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler received charges from the Football Association (FA) following their dismissals during Sunday’s Premier League match. The referee showed Gibbs-White a second yellow card in the 83rd minute for a sliding tackle on Brighton’s Joao Pedro which led to his dismissal.

Following this incident, both managers reacted on the touchline and received red cards for their behavior. Gibbs-White faces charges for acting in an improper manner and/or using abusive or insulting language toward fourth official Anthony Taylor. Meanwhile, both Nuno and Hurzeler face charges for improper conduct with Nuno also accused of using abusive or insulting words toward a match official.

The trio must respond to the charges by Friday, September 27. The match ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw, allowing both clubs to maintain their unbeaten starts in the Premier League. However, Gibbs-White and Nuno will miss Forest’s upcoming home league game against Fulham on Saturday while Hurzeler will be absent from the touchline as Brighton prepares to face Chelsea on the same day.

This incident highlights the tensions that can arise during matches especially in high-stakes situations. Gibbs-White’s dismissal impacted the team significantly, as he is a key player for Forest and they will feel his absence in their next fixture. Nuno’s absence as a manager could also influence Forest’s strategy as they look to continue their solid form in the league.

The FA’s prompt action shows its commitment to upholding discipline and sportsmanship within the game for teams like Nottingham Forest and Brighton.
