Rodrigo Muniz’s Last-Gasp Goal Seals Historic Win for Fulham

Rodrigo Muniz’s dramatic stoppage-time goal secured Fulham a stunning 2-1 comeback victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, marking their first win there in 45 years. Chelsea had taken the lead in the 16th minute through Cole Palmer’s smooth finish, his 26th Premier League goal in a calendar year, surpassing Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s club record from 2001. Despite the early advantage, Chelsea struggled to maintain control and paid the price as Fulham’s relentless determination shone through.

Fulham manager Marco Silva’s substitutions proved pivotal. Harry Wilson headed home the equalizer in the 82nd minute before Rodrigo Muniz steered a composed low finish past Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez in the 95th. Silva’s bold tactics and his team’s relentless energy highlighted Fulham’s growing reputation for resilience, following recent strong performances against Arsenal and Liverpool.

Bernd Leno played a crucial role in Fulham’s success, making vital saves from Marc Cucurella and Enzo Fernandez while also denying Chelsea during a frantic late scramble. This was far from a defensive display by Fulham as their positive approach consistently troubled Chelsea’s defense. For Chelsea, Palmer’s brilliance was a rare bright spot in an otherwise lackluster performance. Manager Enzo Maresca, who has tempered title talk despite Chelsea being Liverpool’s nearest challengers, saw his side falter creatively and defensively.

Missed opportunities, including Cucurella’s poorly directed header, compounded Chelsea’s frustrations. The result serves as a reality check for Chelsea, exposing their vulnerabilities and stalling their Premier League aspirations. Meanwhile, Fulham’s determination and Silva’s tactical acumen underline their growing strength, earning them a well-deserved celebration.
