Ruben Amorim’s Impact: United Thrash Everton 4-0 at Old Trafford

Ruben Amorim’s appointment as Manchester United’s manager has sparked a noticeable turnaround in the team’s fortunes. The Portuguese coach received a rousing reception from supporters after United’s 4-0 victory over Everton at Old Trafford on Sunday, a stark contrast to the boos that greeted the team earlier this season under Erik ten Hag. United had been languishing in 14th place before ten Hag’s dismissal but Amorim’s arrival has brought a seven-match unbeaten streak.

Amorim acknowledged that while the team’s performance still needs improvement, the fan support is crucial. “It helps to have a new face,” he said, emphasizing the importance of hard work and gradual improvement. The win against Everton was a step forward but Amorim remained cautious, stressing that United’s challenges are far from over. The 3-5-2 formation Amorim implemented which was successful at Sporting CP is beginning to show promise at United.

Players like Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee capitalized on Everton’s mistakes, scoring twice each. United now sit in ninth place just four points behind fourth-place Brighton, as they aim for a return to the Champions League next season. Rashford while appreciating the positive atmosphere, echoed his manager’s caution. “It’s nothing to get overly excited by,” he said, acknowledging that the team must continue to meet Amorim’s demands.

The win came amid protests from fans over rising ticket prices but the victory featuring United’s first four-goal league performance since April may have softened the blow. Ruben Amorim soaking in the moment reflected on the emotional connection with the supporters but reiterated his focus on future successes.
