Wolves Bounce Back with 4-1 Victory Over Fulham

Wolves manager Gary O’Neil praised Matheus Cunha after the Brazilian scored two brilliant goals in a 4-1 win over Fulham which moved Wolves out of the relegation zone. Cunha canceled out Alex Iwobi’s stunning opener with a delightful strike, controlling Mario Lemina’s long pass before finishing delicately over goalkeeper Bernd Leno.

After Joao Gomes put Wolves ahead in the second half, Cunha added another superb goal curling it into the far corner before Goncalo Guedes sealed the victory with a late counter-attack goal. O’Neil highlighted Cunha’s importance, noting his impressive 10 top-flight goal involvements this season only behind stars like Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland.

O’Neil emphasized Cunha’s improvement particularly his off-the-ball work, stating that there are no limits to his potential. Cunha’s recent form has been exceptional with 26 goal contributions in his last 29 league starts. Fulham, who had hoped to win three consecutive Premier League games for the first time since January 2023 started strong but faltered.

Raul Jimenez missed a golden chance before Iwobi’s opener and Harry Wilson struck the bar in the second half. Despite controlling much of the game, Fulham struggled after Wolves equalized and were further hampered when Joachim Andersen was forced off injured leaving Fulham to play with 10 men.

The result snapped Fulham’s winning streak while Wolves extended their unbeaten run to four matches. O’Neil’s side, now gaining momentum will face bottom-half teams in the coming weeks, boosting their confidence ahead of the busy holiday period. Fulham, on the other hand will face tougher fixtures, making this defeat a missed opportunity to climb further up the table.
