Erling Haaland Scores Hat-Trick in Norway’s 5-0 Win
Erling Haaland scored a sensational hat-trick as Norway triumphed 5-0 over Kazakhstan, securing promotion to the top tier of the Nations League. The Manchester City striker, who became Norway’s all-time record goalscorer last month, now has 38 goals in 39 appearances for his country and leads the Nations League scoring chart with seven goals from six group matches. Haaland’s first goal came after Antonio Nusa’s shot was saved with Haaland slotting in the rebound.
He doubled the lead with a header from Nusa’s precise cross, and before halftime, Alexander Sorloth added a third. Erling Haaland completed his hat-trick with a composed finish from the edge of the box, following a well-placed pass from Sander Berge. Nusa then rounded off the scoring with Norway’s fifth goal, capping off a dominant performance.
Norway’s 5-0 win, combined with Austria’s 1-1 draw with Slovenia saw them finish top of Group B3, earning promotion to the Nations League’s elite level. Austria had been moments away from topping the group after Romano Schmid’s goal but Slovenia’s Adam Gnezda Cerin equalized late, costing Austria the top spot.
As a result, Austria will now face a promotion-relegation play-off against a third-place team from the top division. Haaland’s hat-trick and Norway’s impressive victory highlighted their strength in Group B3 and they will now look forward to competing at the highest level in future Nations League matches.
