Kyle Walker Makes Euro 2024 Team of the Tournament

Kyle Walker, England’s full-back, has earned a spot in the Euro 2024 Team of the Tournament alongside six players from the victorious Spain squad. Walker played every minute for England throughout the tournament, playing a pivotal role as the Three Lions finished as runners-up to Spain. This marks the second consecutive time Walker has made the Team of the Tournament, having also received the honor in 2021 when England lost to Italy in the final at Wembley.

A panel of 12 “technical observers,” including notable figures such as David Moyes, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and Rafa Benitez, made the selection. Walker’s inclusion highlights his consistent performance at the highest level, demonstrating his defensive prowess and stamina. From the Premier League, Marc Cucurella (Chelsea), William Saliba (Arsenal), Rodri (Manchester City) and Manuel Akanji (Manchester City) also secured spots, showcasing the league’s strong representation in the tournament.

Additionally, young talent Lamine Yamal, who won the Young Player of the Tournament award, joined his Spanish teammates Nico Williams, Dani Olmo and Fabian Ruiz in the squad. Jamal Musiala, who impressed with three goals for hosts Germany before their quarter-final exit to Spain, also earned a place in the forward line. AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan, recognized for his standout performances, completes the lineup.

The full UEFA Team of the Tournament includes: Mike Maignan (France) in goal; defenders Kyle Walker (England), Manuel Akanji (Switzerland), William Saliba (France) and Marc Cucurella (Spain); midfielders Daniel Olmo (Spain), Rodri (Spain) and Fabian Ruiz (Spain); and forwards Lamine Yamal (Spain), Jamal Musiala (Germany) and Nico Williams (Spain). This selection celebrates the standout players of the tournament, recognizing their contributions and excellence on the field.
