UEFA Penalizes Bellingham, England Prepares for Quarter-Final

UEFA has handed Jude Bellingham a one-match suspended ban and fined him £25,400 (30,000 Euros) for his controversial gesture during England’s last-16 victory over Slovakia in Euro 2024. Despite this, he will take the field in England’s quarter-final against Switzerland. The 21-year-old midfielder directed a crotch-grabbing gesture towards the Slovakian bench, prompting an investigation by UEFA. However, Bellingham clarified that he aimed the gesture as an inside joke at friends in the crowd, not as disrespect to Slovakia.

In response to this decision, England manager Gareth Southgate has expressed his support, describing it as a sensible outcome given the circumstances.
