Tottenham secured their second consecutive victory in the Europa League edging past Ferencvaros in Hungary with a youthful squad. Manager Ange Postecoglou included four teenagers in his starting lineup, featuring 17-year-old winger Mikey Moore, 18-year-old midfielder Lucas Bergvall, 18-year-old defender Archie Gray and 19-year-old striker Will Lankshear, who made his senior debut.

Goals from Pape Sarr, 22 and Brennan Johnson, 23, sealed the win with the young players playing pivotal roles. Postecoglou praised Moore’s performance, highlighting his impressive contribution over 90 minutes in a European away match. He noted the rarity of 17-year-olds making an impact in the Premier League and emphasized the importance of careful development.

Moore was instrumental in Tottenham’s first goal, making a dynamic run before Sarr found the net with a low shot from close range. Ferencvaros thought they had scored first but Barnabas Varga’s header was ruled offside. Despite a strong finish from the hosts, Spurs held on with substitute Johnson extending the lead after hitting the crossbar earlier. He scored with a low shot that bounced in off the post marking his fifth goal in five matches.

Ferencvaros managed to pull one back in the 90th minute with Varga finishing a left-wing cross but it was too late to change the outcome. Tottenham now has a perfect six points from their two group games, following their opening 3-0 win over Qarabag. Postecoglou made seven changes to the side that defeated Manchester United giving opportunities to younger players like Lankshear, who almost scored early on.

Spurs will aim to maintain their winning streak when they host AZ Alkmaar on October 24.
