Farhad Moshiri Leaves Everton, Reflects on Turbulent Tenure

Farhad Moshiri has expressed “mixed emotions” following the end of his ownership of Everton, reflecting on the club’s turbulent journey under his leadership. After selling his stake in the club to the Friedkin Group for a reported £400m+, Moshiri acknowledged the challenges faced by Everton during his tenure including managerial instability, relegation battles and financial turmoil.

Despite these struggles, Moshiri believes the club is in a better position now with a new stadium under construction and significant investment in the training ground. In an open letter to supporters, Moshiri admitted that the results on the pitch were not up to standard, stating that he understands football’s demand for success. He also reminisced about the appointment of top-class managers like Carlo Ancelotti and wondered where Everton could have been had Ancelotti stayed instead of leaving for Real Madrid.

Moshiri highlighted his pride in leaving Everton with an “iconic stadium” and improvements to the club’s infrastructure.  He also emphasized his efforts to minimize costs for fans by keeping season ticket prices among the most affordable in the Premier League. In contrast, the Everton Fan Advisory Board (FAB) acknowledged the difficult period under Farhad Moshiri but welcomed the Friedkin Group’s takeover as a new chapter for the club.

They expressed hope and optimism for the future, particularly regarding the new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock. The FAB encouraged clear communication from the new owners about their plans and stressed that while change will take time, they are eager to collaborate with the Friedkin Group to achieve long-term success for Everton.
