Bayern Munich is set to sign Michael Olise after the winger decided to join the Bundesliga giants from Crystal Palace. Earlier this month, Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Newcastle all contacted Crystal Palace to express their interest in the 22-year-old player.
The negotiations for the deal were expected to be intricate due to Michael Olise’s release clause, valued at around £60 million, and the distribution of percentages from any transfer fee to Palace, the player himself, and his former club Reading. Chelsea had reservations about the overall financial implications of the transfer.
Last summer, Chelsea unsuccessfully attempted to acquire the French Under-21 international for approximately £35 million, believing they had activated his release clause. However, Michael Olise subsequently extended his contract at Selhurst Park for four more years, now set to last until 2027.
Michael Olise recently earned a call-up to the France squad for the upcoming Paris Olympics beginning in July. Despite missing several matches due to a hamstring injury last season, he scored 10 goals in 19 appearances for Palace.
While Manchester United had previously shown interest in Michael Olise, they are currently prioritizing signings in different positions. The club is actively pursuing targets that align with their strategic priorities for the upcoming season.
