Burnley Football Club has reached out to former Manchester United striker, Ruud van Nistelrooy to fill their managerial vacancy. Last season, the Clarets faced relegation back to the Championship, and their boss, Vincent Kompany left to join Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in May.
According to BBC Sport, the Turf Moor side has held talks with Dutchman Van Nistelrooy, and former England internationals Frank Lampard and Scott Parker. Meanwhile, former Wales international Craig Bellamy is currently serving as head coach.
Reports from the Netherlands suggest that Van Nistelrooy, 47, is close to agreeing on a multi-year deal with Burnley Football Club. However, the club is not planning to make an official announcement about their decision this week. In the 2022-23 season, Van Nistelrooy led PSV Eindhoven to the second place in the Eredivisie and secured a KNVB Cup victory.
He moved to Manchester United from PSV in 2001, scored 95 goals in 150 Premier League games, and then transferred to Real Madrid in 2006. In the meantime, Burnley has welcomed Henrik Jansen as their new assistant first-team coach.
Jansen, 39, hails from Swedish side Kalmar FF and has prior managerial experience with Danish women’s team Fortuna Hjorring, IFK Norrkopping, Linkopings FC and Midtjylland. Jansen has expressed excitement about his new role, calling it a perfect fit after fruitful discussions.
He has admired Burnley Football Club for a long time, watching their matches, appreciating their playing style, facilities, and the incredible atmosphere at Turf Moor. He anticipates that stepping onto that pitch will be a moment of immense pride for him.
