Kylian Mbappe in Injury Cloud for Euro Clash After Nose Break
Kylian Mbappe returned to training with the French national team on Wednesday after suffering a broken nose in their opening Euro 2024 match against Austria. During the session, the 25-year-old wore a protective bandage and initially trained alone. It remains uncertain whether he will be available for France’s upcoming second group match against the Netherlands in Leipzig on Friday.
The French Football Federation (FFF) had previously indicated that they would update Mbappe’s fitness on Wednesday. Mbappe had to leave the Austria game after colliding with defender Kevin Danso, resulting in a confirmed nose break at a hospital in Dusseldorf. He later rejoined his teammates in camp.
The FFF stated that they would custom-make a protective mask for Mbappe. Additionally, Kylian Mbappe received a yellow card for re-entering the pitch and sitting down, which temporarily halted the match. Following the game, Austrian player Danso, 25, expressed regret over the incident and wished Mbappe a speedy recovery.
Mbappe, a prominent player who recently moved from Paris St-Germain to Real Madrid after his contract expired this summer, faces uncertainty about participating in France’s final group game against Poland scheduled for Tuesday.
