Aaron Wan-Bissaka Joins West Ham in £15M Transfer

Aaron Wan-Bissaka has signed with West Ham United from Manchester United for £15 million. The 26-year-old has committed to a seven-year deal with the Hammers, marking a significant move in his career. Wan-Bissaka, who joined Manchester United from Crystal Palace in a £50 million transfer in 2019, scored two goals in 190 appearances for the Red Devils. Wan-Bissaka becomes West Ham’s eighth signing of the summer, joining the likes of Jean-Clair Todibo, Crysencio Summerville, Luis Guilherme, Niclas Fullkrug, Wes Foderingham, Max Kilman and Guido Rodriguez at London Stadium.

The defender expressed his excitement about joining the club, stating, “It was a no-brainer for me to join West Ham—I’m excited and happy to be here. I can’t wait to get on the pitch, get to know the players, and push on from there.” He also highlighted the strong team spirit within the squad, noting that the group’s unity and support will be crucial for success. Born in London, Wan-Bissaka described it as an “amazing feeling” to return to the capital. His move to West Ham ends a five-year stint at Manchester United.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka initially thrived under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who signed him in 2019. Wan-Bissaka was a regular starter until Solskjaer’s departure in 2021. However, after Erik ten Hag’s appointment in 2022, Wan-Bissaka lost his regular starting position but still managed to make 64 appearances over the past two seasons. Manchester United’s decision to sign Bayern Munich full-back Noussair Mazraoui hinged on Wan-Bissaka’s departure to West Ham. With Wan-Bissaka’s exit confirmed, United are now set to complete Mazraoui’s signing.

West Ham will kick off their 2024-25 Premier League season against Aston Villa on 17 August while Manchester United will face Fulham on 16 August.
