Adrien Rabiot the France midfielder is set to join Ligue 1 club Marseille after agreeing to a deal in principle. The 29-year-old, who has been a free agent since leaving Juventus in July will return to France once he successfully passes a medical examination. Rabiot, who has earned 48 caps for France spent five seasons with Juventus after leaving Paris Saint-Germain in 2019.
During his time in Turin, Rabiot won one Serie A title, two Italian Cups and one Italian Super Cup. Before his stint in Italy, he briefly played at Manchester City’s academy before making his senior debut with PSG. Despite reported interest from Premier League clubs including Manchester United, Rabiot will now return to French football. At Euro 2024 in Germany, Rabiot played in all five of France’s matches.
His performances helped France reach the semi-finals, where Spain, the eventual champions, eliminated them. Marseille, currently second in Ligue 1 under new manager Roberto de Zerbi will add Rabiot to their squad as part of their summer recruitment. The club has already strengthened their lineup with new signings such as Mason Greenwood, Neal Maupay and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Olympique de Marseille announced the agreement in principle and stated that Adrien Rabiot’s arrival depends on passing the medical examination. Marseille expects Rabiot’s addition to enhance their squad as they pursue a successful Ligue 1 campaign.
