Bukayo Saka Subbed Off After Right Leg Injury

Bukayo Saka suffered a right leg injury during England’s 2-1 loss to Greece at Wembley on Thursday. The 23-year-old Arsenal forward left the field in the 51st minute with Chelsea winger Noni Madueke replacing him. Saka stretched and grabbed the back of his leg soon after Greece’s Vangelis Pavlidis scored the first goal, raising concerns as he sat on the pitch.

Interim head coach Lee Carsley confirmed that doctors are assessing Saka, pointing out that the injury appeared to occur during the lead-up to Greece’s goal. This defeat adds to England’s challenges, as they already missed key players Harry Kane and Jack Grealish due to injury. However, both are expected to recover in time for Sunday’s match against Finland.

Saka’s injury also presents a worry for Arsenal, who already face the absence of their captain, Martin Ødegaard. Ødegaard injured his ankle while playing for Norway in September, adding to the Gunners’ injury woes. Arsenal will return to Premier League action on October 19, facing Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium and hope to have some of their key players back in time for the match.

As Arsenal and England contend with these injuries, the situation highlights the physical strain international breaks can place on players. Saka, a key player for both club and country will undergo close monitoring to determine the severity of his injury and whether it will affect his availability for Arsenal’s upcoming games. Fans and the club await updates on his condition following further assessment.
