Carabao Cup first round has concluded, and the evening’s matches produced exciting results. Sheffield Wednesday secured a 2-1 victory against Hull City in the Carabao Cup. Plymouth Argyle, under Wayne Rooney marked his first win as manager with a 3-0 triumph over Cheltenham. Middlesbrough delivered a dominant performance, defeating Leeds 3-0 at Elland Road. In the northern section of the second round, League Two side Doncaster Rovers, fresh from a 4-1 victory over Accrington Stanley will face Everton. Tranmere, also from the fourth tier will visit Leicester City, last season’s Championship winners. Additionally, Newcastle United will travel to Nottingham Forest for an all-Premier League clash.
In the southern section, Brighton will host League One Crawley in a rare Sussex derby. Newly-promoted Ipswich will travel to League Two’s Wimbledon and Colchester will welcome Brentford in another fourth vs. first tier matchup.
