Casemiro Retains Ten Hag’s Trust Despite Liverpool Blunder

Casemiro has received Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag’s continued trust despite the midfielder’s recent poor performance against Liverpool. The 32-year-old Brazilian made mistakes that contributed to two of Liverpool’s goals, leading to his substitution at halftime in the Reds’ 3-0 victory before the international break. Ten Hag emphasized that Casemiro’s experience remains invaluable even after what he described as a “bad day at the office.”

The manager acknowledged that everyone has off days and stressed the importance for players to bounce back from such setbacks. Casemiro now faces increased competition for a starting spot with the arrival of £41 million signing Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain. Ugarte will make his debut for United in their upcoming match against Southampton.

Ten Hag noted that competition plays a fundamental role in high-level football and is essential for success. He highlighted that a strong squad requires depth, with at least two players able to cover each position due to the demands of multiple competitions. “We definitely need Casemiro, for sure,” Ten Hag stated.

He stressed the importance of having experienced players like Casemiro who can handle challenges and continue to contribute despite occasional poor performances. Regarding Ugarte, Ten Hag looks forward to seeing how the new signing integrates into the team and enhances the competition within the squad.

The manager’s approach reflects his belief in building a robust team capable of competing across various competitions and managing player performance effectively.
