Cole Palmer Wins England Men’s Player of the Year 2023-24

Cole Palmer has netted two goals in his nine appearances for England.

Cole Palmer has won the England Men’s Player of the Year award for the 2023-24 season, following a public vote. The Chelsea forward beat out Jude Bellingham and Bukayo Saka, who finished second and third, respectively. Palmer made his national team debut in November 2022 during a 2-0 victory over Malta at Wembley. Since then, he has earned nine caps, starting in two matches and appeared five times at Euro 2024 where he scored in the final against Spain despite England’s 2-1 defeat.

This award follows his earlier recognition as PFA Young Player of the Year for 2023-24 in August after an outstanding debut season at Chelsea. After joining from Manchester City last summer, Palmer scored 25 goals across all competitions and netted twice for England. He is expected to feature in the upcoming Nations League matches against Greece and Finland.

Palmer becomes the first Chelsea player to claim this honor since Ashley Cole in 2010, joining a prestigious group that includes past winners like Frank Lampard, Harry Kane, Wayne Rooney and David Beckham. Bukayo Saka had claimed the award for the past two seasons, showcasing the fierce competition within English football.

With this latest achievement, Palmer joins an illustrious list of players celebrated for their impact on the national team. The announcement for the 2023-24 England Women’s Player of the Year will come later this month.
