Crystal Palace’s Guehi and Teammates Excel at Euro 2024

Crystal Palace’s co-owner and chairman, Steve Parish has stated that any club wishing to sign England defender Marc Guehi must offer “superstar money.” Newcastle United have made three bids for Guehi with the latest reportedly around £60 million. Guehi, who was a standout performer for England at Euro 2024, missed only one game in the tournament due to suspension and has drawn significant interest from European clubs since joining Palace in 2021.

His current contract has less than two years remaining. Parish expressed a strong desire to retain Guehi but acknowledged that they might consider selling if a suitable offer arrives. He emphasized that the price must reflect Guehi’s status as a top talent. “Somebody has to pay superstar money,” Parish told BBC Sport. He noted that while no offers have yet met their expectations, Guehi’s performance will not be affected by the speculation.

Regarding other players, Parish also commented on Fulham’s second bid for central defender Joachim Andersen, which includes £25 million plus £5 million in add-ons. Crystal Palace rejected an initial £20 million offer and values Andersen at closer to £40 million. Parish expressed reluctance to lose both of their key centre-backs but indicated that decisions would depend on what is best for the club and the players.

Palace has already sold star player Michael Olise to Bayern Munich for £50 million and is anticipating interest in Eberechi Eze. Despite previous links to Manchester City, Parish confirmed there has been no concrete interest in Eze this transfer window. Parish underscored the club’s ambition to attract top talent and achieve European competition status in the future while remaining realistic about their current position and focusing on smart recruitment and squad management.
